Thursday, February 2nd - Money Matters, directed by Ryan Richmond at 8pm at the Allentown Symphony Hall as part of the On Screen In Person Film Tour Money Matters is a coming-of-age story about a 14 year-old biracial girl, Monique Matters, as she tries to navigate faith and sexuality questions of adolescence, a dysfunctional single-mother household and the rough waters of our nation's capital's best kept secret -- the inner city. Monique never knew her white father, now a priest, and as her mother's disturbing past comes to light, she must somehow reconcile the relationships and circumstances surrounding her very existence. Money Matters was selected by the Tribeca Film Festival’s All Access program and won Urban World Film Festival’s HBO Screenplay Competition.

Join the Bach Choir for the first of two talks by Choir Archivist, Dr. Paul Larson “ “Renewing the Bach Choir and Festivals: 1905-1912” at the Bach Choir office, 440 Heckwelder Place, Bethlehem. The annual Bethlehem Bach Festival, which is celebrating the centennial of its renewal in May, has been a nationally recognized institution since the first complete American performance of the Mass in 1900. The Steve Tobin “Explodes” exhibition will be held through March 4th at the Payne Gallery, Moravian College.

Search the Surface, art exhibition is at Cedar Crest College through Feb 26th in the Lachaise Gallery of the Miller Family Building. Search the Surface is an exhibition featuring the works of artists Pat Badt, Leslie Fletcher, Ken Kewley and Chris Neyen. The Pennsylvania Playhouse presents Ken Ludwig’s “Leading Ladies” Directed by Gary Bower through February 5th. Set in the 1950’s, two English Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, find their careers in a rut. They are currently performing “Scenes from Shakespeare” on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. However, when they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews they resole to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The Liberty Bell Museum, Zion’s Reformed UCC Church opens in February featuring a replica of the Liberty Bell, cast in 1769 and rung to call the townspeople to the reading of the Declaration of Independence. The Mock Turtle Marionette Theatre presents “Magic Day” at the IceHouse on Sand Island, Historic Bethlehem. The Allentown Art Museum is hosting the “Who Shot Rock and Roll” Exhibit. Organized by the Brooklyn Museum of Art, with guest curator Gail Buckland, the exhibition is the first majior exhibition on rock and roll to put photographers in the foreground and acknowledge their creative and collaborative role in the history of rock music. The exhibition includes 175 works by more than 100 photographers and cover the rock and roll era from the 1950s to the present, including some of the world’s most iconic images. “Yarn Bombing” An exhibit charting the frontier between textile art and the sciences, including geometry, open with a “Yarn Bombing” through Feb. 5th in the gallery of Lafayette College’s Williams Center for the Arts. Called “Sticks, Hooks and the Mobius” Knit and Crochet go Cerebral, the exhibit showcases innovative ways the contemporary stitchers, both knitters and crocheters are redefining these crafts. Included are math and science based “geek” knit and crocheted artworks including the groundbreaking coral-shaped hyberbolic planes constructed by mathematician Dania Taimina.   Youth Media Calendar    

Bethlehem Area Public Library, on 11 West Church St, will host free Storytimes for kids of various ages. Babies' storytimes, for up to 24 months, meet Mondays at 11:00, Wednesdays at 9:30, and Thursdays at 10:30. Toddlers' storytimes, for ages 2 to 3.5 years, meets Wednesdays at 10:30 and Thursdays at 9:30. Preschoolers' storytimes, for ages 3.5 to 5 years, meets Tuesdays at 10:00. Family storytimes, for kids of all ages, meets Tuesdays at 11:00. Registration is required. PennDOT is sponsoring a college students summer employment program. The May through August program will supplement the PennDOT workforce. Interns are used primarily for the summer maintence and sign and upgrade services. Applicants must be enrolled in college full time and be scheduled for fall 2012 semester classes. Cedar Crest College will host a Scholarship Competition Day on Sunday, Feb. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Tompkins College Center. The Community Action Development Corporation of Bethlehem will offer its popular entrepreneurial training program beginning February 2nd 2012. Classes will be held each Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30 PM at the Broughal Middle School located at 114 W. Morton Street in South Bethlehem. The 18 week program combines in-depth classroom instruction with presentations by guest experts, and covers a wide range of topics necessary to starting and operating a business including marketing, finance, insurance and legal and real estate considerations. Green Drinks at the Allentown BrewWorks presents "Urban Eco Fish: Sustainable Fish Production for a Sustainable Allentown, Wednesday, February 8th 5:30 - 7:30 in the Silk Lounge. Rich Niesenbaum, Director of Sustainability Studies at Muhlenberg College and Old Allentown resident, will discuss his on-going development of a sustainable urban aquaculture facility for center-city Allentown. The objective of this project is to maximize the sustainability of fish production.

The Bethlehem Area Public Library located at 11 W. Church Street would like you to know about an upcoming Resume Writing Workshop on February 11th from 10 AM- 1:30 PM on the 2nd floor in the Laros Room.
