A Message from Bill Dautremont-Smith, Executive Director
In response
to our current financial situation, last week WDIY regretfully was obliged to
eliminate the staff position of Director of News and Public Affairs. We are reorganizing
and other staff and volunteers are taking on additional tasks, with a goal of
minimizing any negative impact on WDIY's programming. However, in the near-term,
we do not have resources available to maintain both the Wednesday and Thursday
evening public affairs programs. Accordingly, we will concentrate our public affairs
programming on Thursday from 6 to 7pm, under the program title "Lehigh Valley
Discourse", that we are moving from the Wednesday program, Development Director
Sharon McCarthy assumes responsibility for the "Lehigh Valley Discourse"
and Sally Handlon and Alan Jennings will continue as once-monthly Thursday evening
hosts. Over the next few months, from 6 to 7pm, Wednesdays, we will provide an
extra hour of NPR's "All Things Considered."
Lehigh Valley Arts
Salon will continue to focus on the local arts scene and be broadcast on Monday
evenings at 6 p.m. We will continue to evaluate and consider options and resources
to provide locally-produced public affairs. We'll update you regularly.
